The Treaty of Lisbon introduces the European Citizens’ Initiative:
Europe can mean a lot for you, but you can do something for Europe as well. It is time to use your own energy to strengthen Europe for citizens. The European Union needs to become, and is becoming, more and more democratic. With a ratified Treaty, a million EU citizens can move the European Commission to act. So, you can too!
So, you can spend your energy to strengthen Europe by using this citizen’s platform. Use our forum to launch a proposal for discussion, give your opinion and interact with others on a policy proposal currently under discussion, and most importantly express your vote.

Why should I bother contributing?
Proposals with 150 or more supporters from at least 15 member states will receive the support of our Advisory Board for an EU wide campaign to reach (at least) one million votes. We won't wait until the Treaty is ratified. We strongly believe in citizens' initiative and we want to launch the signal that we are ready to use it.
